We have officially earned The Climate Label!
Cairnspring Mills | A Climate Label Certified Brand
The process of achieving The Climate Label was a months-long effort to measure, fund, and reduce our brand’s carbon footprint. These are actions that all companies—and individuals—can and must take now to “flatten the curve” of carbon emissions.
“As of December 16, 2025, our mill operations and entire supply chain is certified by Change Climate with The Climate Label,” said Cairnspring Mills Sustainability Manager, Paul Glowaski. “This includes comprehensive emissions from Scopes 1, 2 and 3; Reduction Action Plans, and a Climate Transition Budget. With one of the shortest supply chains in the industry, combined with the carbon benefits of regenerative farming, we can now show customers and our community the climate benefits of our operation.”
We’re thrilled to join hundreds of companies earning The Climate Label in taking meaningful climate action today.
How did we get here?
We collaborated with the Change Climate team to measure our company's total 2024 carbon footprint, set time-bound Reduction Action Plans, and established a dedicated Climate Transition Budget to invest in carbon projects that met Change Climate’s rigorous Standard.
Certifying companies collectively dedicated thousands of hours to understanding and addressing their climate impacts during the certification process.
Each organization works to achieve the same, uniform Standard. This included:
Measure
We measured our 2024 carbon footprint at 19,000 tonnes. To arrive at this number, we accounted for all cradle-to-customer emissions associated with producing and delivering our grain and flour, including supply chain emissions, employee commuting, business travel, and utility bills.
Fund
From there, we adopted an internal price on carbon at $15 per tonne, multiplied by our total emissions, and established our Climate Transition Budget. The funds set aside for the CTB will be used to fund reduction work across Value Chain Abatement, Beyond Value Chain, and Other Contributions to the Net-Zero Transition.
Reduce
We then identified emissions hotspots and developed time-bound Reduction Action Plans to reduce emissions over the next 12-24 months.
For example, to reduce emissions from Raw Materials, we will:
- Provide expert support and invest in Regenerative Certification from A Greener World (AGW) with 7 farms growing wheat for our Blue Mountain mill in Pendleton, OR, covering 100% of the mill’s wheat suppliers Hard Red Winter Wheat supplies.
- Implement the Cool Farm tool with 33% of our farmers to measure and manager the carbon footprint of our agricultural supply chain, identify on-farm CHG reduction opportunities, and support farmer engagement strategies.
Advocate
Finally, we’re committed to transparency, accountability, and continuing to push the climate movement forward through lobbying, internal & external climate literacy, and more.

What does it mean to achieve The Climate Label?
Moving forward, our products will bear The Climate Label. This label represents the trusted, independent Standard for climate action and empowers consumers to find brands that are leading on immediate climate action.
“Consumers hold incredible power to shape the economy, and their power is exerted through the actions of the brands they support,” said Austin Whitman, CEO of Change Climate. “With our climate label, we’re helping consumers find companies that are taking action today and immediately investing in climate solutions.”
All companies that obtain certification must reduce and offset all emissions from the production and delivery of products and services. Change Climate works with over 400 companies, and their label can be found on millions of products worldwide. Next time you’re considering a new product, keep an eye out for The Climate Label.
